Service Description:
  • Operates a community-based food purchasing system that makes fresh fruits and vegetables available to community members who are managing certain health conditions
  • Provides a voucher for participants to use towards buying fresh produce at the Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabe Community Food Market that operates year-round
  • Partners with Roots to Harvest to offer the market
  • Fees: None
    Application:
    • Referrals processed through Dilico Health Services by Registered Dietitian

    • Once referral is processed, participant will be notified and given voucher; amount depends upon family size

    • Vouchers are available once per week to a maximum of 15 weeks
    Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Members of Gull Bay First Nation who meet one or more of the following:

    • Are referred by a Health Provider

    • Managing a chronic, dietary disease such as diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure etc

    • Experiencing regular gaps in accessing healthy, fresh food

    • Managing a health condition that would benefit from increased access to fresh produce

    • Willing to participate in surveys
