Service Description: Provides psychiatric assistance for children and their families through video conferencing
  • Offers consultations, diagnosis and treatment from professionals at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto
  • Recommends the child/client accessing telepsychiatry retain a counsellor or family doctor who can provide follow-up services
  • Provides educational seminars and training programs for agencies on any of the related topics
Areas of consultation and educational/training seminars include:
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Attachment disorders
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Behavioural disorders
  • Child and sexual abuse
  • Depression/mood disorders
  • Developmental delays
  • Eating disorders
  • Family issues
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • Infant psychiatry
  • Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD)
  • Psychiatric medications
  • Psychosis
  • School problems
  • Speech and language

Application: Referral required; accepted from doctors, counsellors or agencies that provide mental health services for children and their families
Eligibility - Population(s) Served:
  • Must be a member of any of the 9 First Nations communities in the Rainy Lake Tribal Region either on/off-reserve


  • Children and youth 17 years of age and younger with emotional and/or behavioural problems that require additional help



NOTE: Children do not have to be in care with an agency to access services
