Service Description: Assists seniors with hearing loss * services include assessment and support for seniors with hearing loss to develop, maintain, or augment sensory capacity and promote maximum independence
  • hearing care counsellors work with individuals with hearing loss, their family and caregivers
  • services are provided in an accessible and safe environment, including home visits, in office appointments, or virtually
  • provide one-on-one hearing screenings
  • prepare you to manage difficult listening situations like social gatherings, restaurants, places of worship or recreational programs
  • help you remain independent and stay safe at home with recommendations and support with the installation of visual smoke alarms, visual doorbells, assistive listening devices, and phone alert systems
  • provides training on the use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids, assistive listening devices, specialized telephones, and alert devices
  • referral to other CHS programs and services or agencies that offer alternate services as needed
  • hosting presentations, community displays, workshops, classes, and learning groups
Hearing Care Counselling also provides in-service training to supportive housing, retirement homes and long-term care facilities
Fees: Support services are free * set fees for devices

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Adult 55 years and older who have hearing loss or persons older than 19 with acquired hearing loss and a physical illness, frailty or physical disability
