HEROES IN THE HOME: PORTRAIT OF CARE

Wedding bells will soon be ringing...

We are now entering high wedding season. If you're the mother or father of the bride or groom, then it's quite possible you're also a caregiver to one or more of the grandparents of the lucky couple.

When we were planning our wedding, we wanted to make it as stress free as possible for my mom so we hired a nurse to be my grandma's companion and helper for the day. My Gran, who was 92-years-old at the time, enjoyed herself immensely. Later that same year when my brother married, he hired the same nurse. If it's not possible for you to do this, consider asking another family member to take on this role. It can make a world of difference.

In the meantime, try not to stress too much and remember - chances are you'll be laughing about it, whatever it is, before you know it. Today's Friday Bounce is proof that what may seem mortifying at the time, often makes for the most memorable in the end.

I've heard about people hiring babysitters for weddings, but never a nurse. What a great idea! That is a nice way to make sure everyone you love is at the event and that caregivers can enjoy the celebration. Thanks for another great Friday Bounce!
